About the Job
The D. E. Shaw Group is hiring an Industrial Trainee – Financial Operations for its Hyderabad office. The role sits within the Financial Operations / Financial Reporting function and offers exposure to global fund operations, financial reporting, and regulatory processes.
The Financial Reporting team handles investor and legal entity reporting, audit finalisation, variance analysis, and regulatory reporting for hedge funds, benchmark-relative funds, and private fund vehicles operating across global financial markets.
Eligibility
Basic Qualifications
- Chartered Accountancy qualification
- CA Inter / IPCC cleared in first or second attempt
- Minimum 1 year of articleship experience completed
- Strong analytical ability, clear communication, intellectual curiosity, and comfort with high ownership in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of business intelligence tools
- Understanding of global accounting frameworks
Responsibilities
- Support new fund launches, including setting up complex fund structures and transactions
- Conduct historical and projected analyses of fund performance
- Perform technical accounting analysis for complex financial instruments
- Handle bespoke requests from internal and external stakeholders
- Work closely with the COO’s office, CFO, business unit heads, regulators, and portfolio managers
- Prepare and analyse key performance metrics, P&L analysis, expense allocation, budgeting, and cash management
- Assist in financial and regulatory reporting and audit finalisation for global entities
- Support change management and incorporate business changes into reporting infrastructure
- Drive reporting and analytics automation using tools such as Power BI, Power Query, and Alteryx
- Stay updated on US GAAP, UK GAAP, and HK GAAP, support adoption of new standards, and maintain accounting policies
