The National Pension System Trust (NPS Trust) was established by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) under the Indian Trusts Act of 1882.
It acts as the registered owner of all assets under the National Pension System (NPS) framework, safeguarding the interests of subscribers and overseeing intermediaries such as pension funds, trustee banks, custodians and record-keeping agencies.
NPS is a voluntary, market-linked defined contribution scheme intended to help Indian citizens systematically save for retirement.
